Buckingham Fountain in Chicago - Perfect for Sunday Petanque

While we were in Chicago, and had another day until returning to Michigan, we decided to all meet up at the Buckingham Fountain just North of where we played petanque on Saturday for the tournament.

It is an ideal location.

There is a huge expanse of gravel all around the gorgeous fountain. With a nearby ice-cream shop, toilets, and full gusty breezes to cool us down.

We played in the "open" style - with only the errant tourist and Segway tour (see photos) now and then wandering close to our games.

It is a challenging mix of thin and thick areas (gravel) - which is perfect for the plombee pointer and tir-au-fer shooter.

Juan,

I think Joe may be HAPPY to give you back Mamary for next year's tournament. Let Joe tell you the story...

...and I may be partnerless for next year's tournament too (for similar reasons) so it'll work out, I'll just take Joe.
