Midwest Petanque Boule - Singles Tournament

Only the best player can come home with the Golden Boule. Will you be the one?

We will announce (in the near future) when this tournament will be held. As to it's location, the pistes along the Detroit river, alongside the GM Renaissance towers.

The format? Individual players will compete in direct elimination, untimed games.

If you have what it takes to make it to the top, then strongly consider entering.

There will be a small entry fee for this open tournament.

Great idea! I will try to join you, but hmmm...
"Individual players will compete in direct elimination, untimed games."
We have to talk about this ;-)

Well, I know that direct elimination singles runs quickly - (about 20 minutes per game) - so on that day (still undefined) we'll also hold a doubles tournament. As this will be down in Detroit - there will be plenty of pistes to use...

You're not considering "ranking" singles players and giving handicap points are you?

Jeff,

I just want to point out that you may run into problems if the number of participants will be different than 2^n (8,16,32,64...).
I would recommend considering FPUSA POOL system - groups of 4 or 3 + direct elimination.

PS. Talk to Cyrille - he has experience with this tournament format.

Yes. So, we can do a "limited time registration" - whereby we accept Singles participants until a certain date... controlling the bracket factor.
